Running Carbon Footprint Ltd sustainably is core to our values. We lead by example, aligning our own operations with the latest climate science — with absolute Net Zero targets, renewable energy, and high-integrity offsets for what remains.
Since our original 2009 baseline (focused on office and travel), we have been reducing emissions and offsetting those we couldn't, achieving a >90% reduction in emissions per £M turnover. This marked the completion of our primary intensity-based reduction phase.
We have expanded our scope to include full Scope 3 emissions (including purchased goods & services), setting a new 2023 baseline with absolute emission targets. Our new comprehensive targets focus on absolute reductions across our entire value chain to reach true Net Zero.
Reduce our absolute carbon emissions by >43% by 2030.
Achieve a >90% reduction in absolute emissions and reach true Net Zero by 2050.
To hit our Net Zero targets, we are actively decarbonising every aspect of our business operations.
We have identified our primary emission hotspots and are taking direct action to decarbonise them.
A significant portion of our footprint arises from our team travelling to work and for on-site energy audits at customer sites.
The action: Launching an EV Salary Sacrifice Scheme to support the transition to electric vehicles.
Decentralised energy use for hybrid working represents a core emission challenge.
The action: Providing guidance and support for staff to switch to 100% renewable energy tariffs at home.
Our largest Scope 3 source sits within purchased goods & services.
The action: Moving from spend-based estimates to primary data pulled directly from suppliers, then working with key suppliers to reduce their emissions.
As an industry leader, we go beyond traditional "Carbon Neutrality." Each year we make a proportionate financial contribution to global climate action — purchasing high-integrity, verified carbon credits to match the carbon we calculate, supporting vital environmental and community projects worldwide.

... and we have funded the planting of an additional 49 trees in Kenya — one to match each tonne of CO2e we emit. As these trees grow they will continue to remove additional carbon dioxide from the atmosphere for many years to come.

We are fully committed to acting ethically and with integrity in all of our business operations.
We help businesses measure, reduce and offset their footprint with the same rigour we apply to our own.
